FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TO ENTERTAINMENT DESK

MATTHEW OSBORNE MEMORIAL CONCERT UPDATE

- tickets ready for purchase and tribute CD to be released  -

TORONTO, ON. / July 8, 2004: Tickets for the Matthew Osborne Memorial Concert are on sale as of today. There are various methods of payment to make it easy for those wanting to avoid the line ups at the door. The good people behind the memorial have created their own ticket engine at www.musicface.com/matt/torontotickets.html or by emailing tickets@musicface.com. While using either of these methods purchasers can securely pay with their credit cards, their interact cards, a direct bank transfer through “paypal” or by sending a personal cheque to a listed address. Any one of these simple methods will safely secure the purchaser tickets to this summer's best charitable rock out!

Singer-Songwriter Matthew Osborne died just over two months ago and his fellow musicians, friends and fans are getting together to celebrate his life and music at one of Toronto's landmark venues – The Silver Dollar Room. Many of the musicians on the bill that night have taken part in a tribute CD that will be released at the concert.  Canadian Rock Legend  Rik Emmitt, of Triumph fame, knew Matt through the local music scene and said of Matt and the upcoming tribute CD, “I remember Matt as an engaging and talented musician who had a gift that lit up the room.  It was a great pleasure to share a stage with him.  The world is a better place to have a legacy of recordings which capture Matt's spirit.”

“Not only was Matt a skilled musician, he was an extraordinary singer, songwriter, teacher and person” says Chris Patheiger, co-organizer of the Toronto memorial and fundraiser. So, on Friday, August 6th, 2004 at 8pm crowds will gather at the Silver Dollar Room on Spadina {at College} to hear the likes of Sextant/EMI Recording Artists “the kramdens”, Toronto bar scene favourites – “Linda M', “Uncle Seth”, “The Friendless Youngsters”, “Rick Temporaro and the New Low” and a host of other well known musicians {please see the temporary list below and note we will release more acts as they join the event}. For the $10 admission patrons will enjoy the varied sounds of over 15 different acts, paying their respects to the life and music of Matthew Osborne.

All proceeds of this great night will go to the “The Matt Osborne Musicians Trust Fund”. This trust fund was built by Matthew's family and friends with hopes that the money will help benefit young aspiring musicians in Southern Ontario. For more info on the trust please visit http://musicface.com/matt/trust.html.  “Matt worked tirelessly at helping younger musicians gain exposure and confidence” said Brent Hagerman, editor of Echo Magazine and organizer of the Waterloo memorial, where, Matthew's passing was so profoundly felt that the City of Kitchener donated the use of the Victoria Park Pavilion this past weekend at no cost to host the event to honour him.

All persons/bands named in this release are available for comment on this memorial concert and their individual stories and memories of Matt Osborne through our publicist {see attached}. We will welcome media support of any kind and ask you to post our event on all listing pages.
